Diagnostic records and treatment planning
If it is determined that orthodontic treatment is indicated, diagnostic records will be scheduled.
These records usually consist of study models, diagnostic photographs and orthodontic radiographs.
Once these orthodontic records are obtained, the doctor will review them and determine a specific treatment plan for your orthodontic needs.
Our office will then call you to discuss your treatment plan, set the necessary appointments to begin your orthodontic treatment, and schedule the financial arrangements for treatment.
Upcoming visits
Periodic visits are an important part of orthodontic treatment.
Generally, we will want to see you every 4 to 8 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments to your orthodontic appliances.
During this time, you will need to be punctual to your appointments, follow the instructions given to you, eat properly and practice good oral hygiene.
Also continue to visit your dentist regularly.
Once the orthodontic appliances are removed, retainers are used to hold your teeth in their new positions until the bones, gums and muscles adjust to the new tooth positions.
The retention period is an important part of your overall treatment and should not be neglected!
Duration of treatment
The active phase of treatment can last between 6 months to 30 months or longer, depending on the patient’s age, the severity of the problem, the patient’s cooperation and the degree of metabolic mobility that is possible.
Dental Care
Before any orthodontic treatment, your family dentist should make sure that any cavities have been treated and the health of the gums and underlying bones are free of periodontal disease.
The family dentist should also schedule check-ups, cleanings, and fluoride visits during orthodontic care.
We would like to stress the need to continue your regular visits to your family dentist, because we are only an aid to your family dentist and not a replacement.
If you have any questions please contact the practice at 2108040795.
Starting treatment at the right time very important.
You or your child may or may not be ready for treatment.
Therefore, a visit will allow you to better understand your needs.
