TRANSPARENT – INVISIBLE SPLINTS

Transparent splints

Transparent alignment splints are the most flexible and convenient choice among all orthodontic treatments.
Made with 3-D computer imaging technology from a clear, flexible material, orthodontic splints are comfortable, virtually invisible and removable.

All of these features make them a popular choice for adults and teens looking for a more discreet approach to straightening their teeth.
Clear braces treat the same occlusion and alignment problems as traditional braces without brackets and wires.
Thus, crooked teeth are now a thing of the past.

Transparent splints for teenagers

More and more teens and young adults are discovering the benefits of clear alignment joints.
In fact, the lifestyle of the average teenager makes them excellent candidates for clear aligners! Traditional metal braces influence sports, healthy eating, socialization, and other common teen activities such as playing musical instruments. With clear aligners, not only is the treatment virtually invisible, but also, because the aligners are comfortable and removable, they allow teens to participate in their lives normally.

How do transparent splints work?

A series of specially made alignment splints are used to gradually shift the teeth into position.
Each splint is digitally designed on a computer to
move only one tooth or part of a tooth at a time. Once the work of one splint is completed (usually every two weeks), we move on to the next. Alignment splints should be worn for 20-22 hours a day. They should only be removed for cleaning and eating.

Pain and discomfort

Because there are no brackets and wires, transparent alignment splints do not cause significant pain or discomfort.
In some cases, patients may experience temporary discomfort (pressure) in the first few days after a joint replacement. This pressure can be uncomfortable, but it is actually a good sign that the splints are doing their job!

What is the duration of the treatment?

The treatment time usually ranges from 9-16 months. After the treatment is completed, a period of retention of the orthodontic result is required (as in any orthodontic treatment) to prevent recurrence.
This will all be discussed as part of your overall treatment plan.

Why should I choose transparent splints?

Seven reasons to choose transparent splints over traditional “braces”:

  1. Aesthetics The aesthetics provided by transparent splints is one of the main reasons why millions of people around the world prefer them.
Even when placed on teeth, they remain virtually invisible at a normal distance.
In cases where absolute aesthetics are required (interviews, important meetings, etc.), they are easily and immediately removed.
  2. Excellent oral hygiene Someone who wears traditional “braces” is difficult to brush and floss.
This easily leads to gingivitis and increases the risk of fillings.
With removable splints, oral hygiene is as easy as when not wearing “braces”, saving us from discomfort and pain.
  3. Preservation of tooth colour In cases of poor oral hygiene by a patient who wears traditional “braces”, there is a possibility that the colour of the teeth may be altered.
This type of discoloration becomes apparent after the treatment is over and the brackets are removed.
It goes without saying that such a risk does not exist with clear braces, since nothing is attached to the teeth.
  4. Avoiding injuries With traditional “braces” there are no shortage of accidents that lead to the detachment of some brackets, leading to delayed treatment and minor discomfort.
A ball, a hard food, a kick in Tae kwon do, can cause some detachment.
All of the above does not happen with splints, since they protect the teeth from potential injury.
  5. Enjoyment of food Some foods should be avoided, as there is a risk of the brackets becoming detached.
Also, others should be eaten with caution for the same reason.
There are many times when a piece of lettuce stuck to the brackets has been the cause of a ruined dinner.
With transparent splints such problems are avoided.
Splints should be applied in the mouth for a minimum of 21 hours, so the remaining 3 hours are enough for proper oral hygiene and eating.
  6. Convenience Traditional “braces”, because of their construction, are likely to cause minor injuries to the gums and cheeks, causing discomfort.
Patients using clear splints do not experience such problems as there are no sharp corners from “braces”, wires or rings.
  7. No more teasing from friends With transparent splints press comments: “iron smile” are a thing of the past.
People using this modern technology no longer receive teasing, but instead become the recipients of positive comments (perhaps even jealousy).
